My review
Level of familiarity before listening
I can’t remember what I was thinking when I bought this (approximately twenty years ago), because I didn’t own a turntable until getting my parents’ when they moved, so I probably only listened to it a handful of times when I was in their house.
What I expected
A few great New Wave / pop-punk songs, and some filler.
What it was actually like
This was even better than I recalled! The great songs that I recognized and loved were Just What I Needed, You Might Think, Good Times Roll, My Best Friend’s Girl, Let’s Go and Shake It Up.
Just What I Needed in particular is such a defining song of its genre and time.
Drive and Magic were two that I knew, but didn’t like.
I’m Not the One was the slowest and worst, farthest from New Wave, and closest to easy listening.
Grade
5/5: love it
