My review
Level of familiarity before listening
I’ve heard of Rimsky-Korsakov, but I’m not familiar with any of his work.
I’ve heard of Scheherazade, too, from One Thousand and One Nights. Scheherazade is also the name of a Persian restaurant in Tel Aviv whose koofteh I used to love! I would get a few of them every Friday from their stand in Dizengoff Center and eat them for lunch at work.
What I expected
Classical music. Not sure how to get more specific than that!
What it was actually like
It was fine, I guess. I didn’t recognize any of it. None of it really stood out to me as particularly moving, special or memorable.
I’d recommend Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony over this.
Grade
3/5: interesting, but not for me
